How to Play Backgammon

  1. Roll two dice and move your checkers according to the numbers shown.
  2. Move checkers counter-clockwise toward your home board (points 1–6).
  3. Land on a point with only one enemy checker to send it to the bar.
  4. Once all your checkers are in your home board, start bearing them off.
  5. First player to bear off all fifteen checkers wins.

Tips & Strategy

  • Build primes (six consecutive points) to trap enemy checkers.
  • Don't leave single checkers (blots) exposed unless necessary.
  • Use doubles wisely — they give you four moves instead of two.

What happens when I roll doubles?

You get four moves of that number instead of two. For example, rolling double 3s lets you move four times by 3.

What is the bar?

The bar is the middle divider. Hit checkers must re-enter from the opponent's home board before doing anything else.
