How to Make a Potion of Infestation
One of four new potions added in Java 1.21 (Tricky Trials). The main ingredient is regular Stone (not Cobblestone), which is widely available. Unique in that spawns trigger on damage rather than death. Throw as a Splash Potion at mobs or use Lingering variants for area denial. Pairs well with Weaving for layered mob spawning traps.
Effect
Applies the Infested effect: each time the affected entity takes damage, there is a 10% chance that 1–2 Silverfish spawn at their location.

Upgrades
Cannot be extended with Redstone or amplified with Glowstone. Splash and Lingering variants are available via Gunpowder and Dragon's Breath respectively.
Brewing steps
- Fill a glass bottle.
- Brew with Nether Wart → Awkward Potion.
- Obtain Stone by smelting Cobblestone in a furnace (or mining with Silk Touch).
- Brew Awkward Potion with Stone → Potion of Infestation. Add Gunpowder for Splash variant; Dragon's Breath to Splash for Lingering variant.
