Turtles are sturdy passive mobs with the highest health of any passive mob in the game. They always return to the beach where they hatched to lay eggs, and protecting turtle eggs from being trampled is a player challenge. Adult turtles drop Seagrass, but the most valuable resource — the Turtle Scute — is dropped only when a baby turtle grows to adulthood. Five scutes can craft a Turtle Helmet.

Sandy beach biomes (not snowy beaches or stony shores); in small groups on the sand
Behavior
Swims in water and walks on land. Returns to home beach to lay eggs after breeding with Seagrass. Baby turtles are targeted by zombies, skeletons, foxes, and ocelots. Very slow on land.

0–2 Seagrass, Turtle Scute (dropped by baby when maturing into adult)
